ثانيا: حملة لمطالبة الرئيس الأمريكي بإعلان معارضته للإساءات المتكررة للإسلام والمسلمين

طالب تحالف يضم مجموعة من أكبر المنظمات المسلمة الأمريكية الرئيس الأمريكي بالحديث بشكل علني وصريح ضد قادة اليمين المتشدد الذين أساءوا للإسلام وللمسلمين إساءات بالغة مؤخرا، وقال التحالف أن الرئيس قادر على وقف "التيار المتصاعد" لخطاب العداء للإسلام في الولايات المتحدة إذا تحدث ضده، كما ذكرت المنظمات المسلمة أن صمت الرئيس وعدم إنتقاده لظاهرة العداء للإسلام "الإسلاموفوبيا" سوف يشجع قادة اليمين المتشدد على الإستمرار في إساءاتهم.

وذكرت المنظمات في بيان صدر يوم الخميس العاشر من أكتوبر أنها أرسلت في بداية الأسبوع خطابا للرئيس يرصد الإساءات التي تعرض لها الإسلام مؤخرا من قبل قادة اليمين المتشدد مثل جيري فالويل وبات روبرتسون وفرانكلين جرام، والذين هاجموا الإسلام بكل شر وحقد وتطاولوا على شخصية الرسول محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم. وذكر الخطاب في بعض نصوصه ما يلي:

"هذه ليست رؤى مخطئة لأكاديميي، ولكنها عبارات لأفراد يمتلكون بوضوح أجندة سلبية تجاه الإسلام والمسلمين، أنهم يرون الإسلام والمسيحية مسجونين في حرب عالمية للإبادة، وهم يروجون هذه الرؤية بين الملايين من أتباعهم".

"موقعك، وقيمك ومعتقاداتك الأخلاقية يوفرون نفوذا وإحتراما فريدا وضروريا لكي يقنع هؤلاء الأفراد بأن أعمالهم تسير في عكس مصالح أمريكا وتشوه العقيدة التي يمثلونها. نحن نطالبك بالنقد العلني لهذه الإساءات وأن تعزل نفسك والإدارة عن هؤلاء الأفراد ومشاعرهم".

وتقول المنظمات المسلمة أنها لم تتلقى بعد أية رد على خطابها.

وقد طالب مجلس العلاقات الإسلامية الأمريكية (كير) المسلمين والعرب في أمريكا وخارجها إلى المشاركة في حملة إتصالات جماهيرية بالرئيس الأمريكي لمطالبته بتنفيذ المطالب التي وردت في الخطاب، ويمكن المشاركة في الحملة بإرسال الخطاب التالي إلى عنوان الرئيس الأمريكي، وهو: president@whitehouse.gov

Dear Mr. President:


I am writing to kindly request you to issue a clear statement criticizing the anti-Islamic statements made by right wing extremist leaders such as Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson.


In an appearance on Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes" program, Robertson smeared both Islam and the Prophet Muhammad. About Muhammad, Robertson said: "This man was an absolute wild-eyed fanatic. He was a robber and a brigand. And to say that these terrorists distort Islam, they're carrying out Islam…I mean, this man [Muhammad] was a killer. And to think that this is a peaceful religion is fraudulent." Robertson also called Islam "a monumental scam" and claimed the Quran, Islam's revealed text, "is strictly a theft of Jewish theology."


Last Sunday, Falwell referred to the Prophet Muhammad as a "terrorist" on the CBS news program "60 Minutes." Given an opportunity in other media interviews to amend his defamatory comments, Falwell declined.


These are not the dispassionate views of scholars, but statements by persons with a clearly negative agenda towards Islam and Muslims. They see Islam and Christianity locked in a cosmic war of annihilation and they are promoting this view among millions of their followers.


The international community needs a clear and unambiguous statement by the President of the United States on the issue of anti-Islamic rhetoric to reaffirm US commitment to respecting all world religions.


Without such a statement, the purveyors of hate will continue to view your silence as tacit support for their bigoted views. If this issue is left unchallenged, that perception will harm the United States’ image and interests worldwide, hinder the international effort to combat terrorism, and further traumatize American Muslim families who face a daily barrage of attacks on their faith.


Your position, moral values and convictions provide the unique influence and respect necessary to convince such individuals that their actions run counter to America's interests and sully the faith they claim to represent. We ask that you publicly criticize such bigotry and distance yourself and the Administration from these individuals and their sentiments.

ثالثا: حملة لشرح وجهة نظره المسلمين والعرب للرئيس الأمريكي بخصوص القدس

دعا مجلس العلاقات الإسلامية الأمريكية (كير) المسلمين في أمريكا وخارجها إلى المشاركة في حملة إتصال جماهيري واسعة بالرئيس الأمريكي وكبار رجال الكونجرس لتوضيح موقف المسلمين بالنسبة للقدس، وقال المجلس أن توقيع الرئيس على القانون الخاص بميزانية وزارة الخارجية لعام 2003 والذي يتضمن بنودا يطالب فيها الكونجرس الإدارة بالإعتراف بالقدس كعاصمة إسرائيل يعبر عن عدم مبالاة اللوبي الموالي لإسرايل بمصلحة الولايات المتحدة، كما يدل أيضا على إنصياع الإدارة الأمريكية الحالية لنفوذ وضغوط اللوبي الموالي لإسرائيل إذ فشلت الإدارة في الحيلولة دون وصول البنود المتعلقة بالقدس إلى النص النهائي للقانون الذي وقع عليه الرئيس في اليوم الأخير لموعد إعتماد ميزانية وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية.

وقد تضمنت الميزانية وخاصة في المادة 214 من القانون بنود تحث الرئيس على "البدء الفوري في عملية نقل السفارة الأمريكية في إسرائيل إلى القدس"، كما تضمنت المادة ثلاثةبنود من شأن تنفيذها الإعتراف بأشكال مختلفة بالقدس كعاصمة إسرائيل، ومن هذه البنود:

- عدم إستخدام أية إعتمادات مالية أقرتها الميزانية لعمل القنصلية الأمريكية أو أية مؤسسة ديبلوماسية أمريكية موجودة في القدس إلا إذا خضعت القنصلية أو المؤسسة الديبلوماسية لإشراف السفير الأمريكي في إسرائيل.

- عدم إستخدام أية إعتمادات مالية أقرتها الميزانية في أية وثيقة رسمية حكومية تتحدث عن الدول وعواصمها إلا إذا عرفت الوثيقة القدس كعاصمة إسرائيل.

- يحق لأية مواطن أمريكي مولود في القدس أن يسجل محل ميلاده على أنه إسرائيل.

ودعا المجلس المسلمين والعرب في أمريكا وخارجها إلى المشاركة في حلمة إتصالات فورية بالرئيس الأمريكي وبعض كبار رجال الكونجرس للتعبير عن معارضتهم لموقف الإدارة والكونجرس من القدس كما ظهر في القانون الأخير المتعلق بميزانية وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية لعام 2003.

I am writing to express my disappointment that the Foreign Relations Authorization Act of 2003 included provisions on Jerusalem that do not serve American interests or the cause of peace in the Middle East.


These provisions harm US relations not only with the Arab and Muslim countries but with the entire world community. Since the inception of the state of Israel the status of Jerusalem has been the subject of many UN Resolutions and a core subject in the current efforts to establish a just peace in the Middle East. It is an unsettled issue that is still subject to negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians.


For the American Congress to completely ignore these international resolutions and efforts and come up with biased provisions, such as the ones included in Foreign Relations Authorization Act of 2003, shows America can’t be evenhanded when dealing with the Middle East conflict. It also shows US congress’s disrespect to the will and agreements of the world community at a moment when the United States is is need for many international countries and people in its war against terrorism.


President Bush rightly criticized these provisions when signing this bill. Congress is increasingly unhelpful and counterproductive when it comes to the situation in the Middle East, and should leave foreign policy to the office of the President. I strongly urge you to stop taking steps that undermine and effectivey sabotage the possibility of achieving peace in the Middle East.
