Many Voices, One Humanity

The world cannot afford to celebrate the variety of life in one corner of the world while another is dying. It is increasingly more difficult to insulate ourselves from the world by sitting in our heavily mortgaged houses, sipping a cold drink while watching football and wondering how we are going to pay for all our stuff with the wages that are continually being gouged by insurance cartels. How can this be balanced while watching, on that same over-sized TV, an Iraqi child torn to pieces by our defense department’s “shock and awe” hate campaign? We are part of one humanity, one suffering, and one pain. We simply cannot allow for ourselves to celebrate some basic gains ad rights here while turning a blind eye to violence against other human beings in the world, often carried on or influenced by our government and often hypocritically in our name.

We are one global human family, and violence against it will not stop unless we reject it globally. With many voices we need to speak out for one humanity and for the rights of all human beings, equally and collectively.
