ISRAEL TRIES HIDE EVIDENCE OF AL-DURRA KILLING
The New York Times has published a front-page story about Israeli attempts
to eliminate an image showing the murder of 12-year-old Muhammad Al-Durra,
shot by Israeli soldiers while being sheltered by his father, from an
MSNBC.com contest for "Picture of the Year." Until recently, the image was
voted the number one picture, but has been moved to 6th place following a
campaign by the Israeli consulate in Los Angeles.
In a letter to supporters, Meirav Eilon Shahar, Consul for Communications
and Public Affairs for the Consulate General of Israel in Los Angeles, wrote
that the image shows "children led into the crossfire by their own parents
for publicity purposes...The Muslim and Arab community has whipped up an
onslaught of support for this photo; we urge you to match and exceed their
activism and organization by making certain that it does not win."
The Times article quoted CAIR's Ibrahim Hooper saying, "Whenever there is an
attempt to show the Palestinians as human beings who suffer under
occupation, then somehow it has to be eliminated at any cost...This is a
picture of a child being protected by his father. It is beyond disgusting
what the Israelis are saying about it."

ACTION REQUESTED: Show the Israelis that they cannot kill people, lie about
it, and then try to wipe out the evidence. Show them that they are right
that the Muslim community is active and organized.
